    “A few years ago, I was on Section 8 and battling depression. I didn’t feel like I had any purpose. Then J.R. offered me a gardening subsidy to plant flowers and fix up the yard. I started spending time outside, trimming hedges and pulling weeds, and neighbors began asking me to help them too.
    That little subsidy sparked something in me. I started my own lawnscaping business and this year I signed my first commercial contract.
    I don’t need Section 8 anymore — I’m fully off assistance. More than that, I have a sense of pride and independence again. Redstone didn’t just give me a home, they gave me a reason to get up in the morning.”
